I have been itching to climb for the past few months, and the one day adventure to boulder in Taylors Falls, MN just didn’t quite suffice. Finally, yesterday I went to Vertical Endeavors with a few friends and students of mine for a day of some serious climbing. I love being outdoors, but this was the next best option for not having the necessary gear.

I warmed up on several 5.8 and 5.9 rated climbs, was able to project pretty cleanly through some 5.10 routes (one of them I decided I didn’t ‘like’ because of the style of climb – slopy and knobby and slightly overhanging – so I made myself tie in anway. FUN!), then went to B2 Bouldering cave. It has a 45 degree wall that comes at you – pretty much feels like you’re a monkey on here – great for power and mental strength. I finished off my hands, forearms, and tenacity in B1 – the more tame but still worthy boulder area on the other side of the gym. My crowning moment there was a V2 problem that I didn’t know if I could do. Thanks to Donny and the gals for cheering me on. I was able to link it together and go completely to the top after a handful of attempts.

Today I did a two hour mat practice – the first hour felt great. Mostly because it consistently entirely of Franklin Method ball rolling for my shoulders, back, and hips. Rolling around on the mat, wiggly and sloshing my organs around, and humming to the tone of the area in the body I was working – amazing. I then moved into some simple Yoga Asana, mostly to restore symetry (from my baseline observation I felt quite crooked!) and bring healing. I finished it off with a blissful 20 minutes of so in Supta Baddha Konasana – Supported Bound Angle pose. About half way through I finally felt my breath shift, my chest and shoulders pouring down into the floor as they surrended effort and weight. Beautiful.

Time to plan my fall schedule and work on some Franklin Method homework today – then off to Red Wing MN tomorrow to climb again. What a perfect weekend!

GRATITUDE.

Enjoy your day,

Cheri

this climb was literally called "The Tall Cool One". I agree with it's title, this is the view from the top!

this photo is not me. I don't know who it is. When I return, you will see me clinging to the rock face instead. Gracias!

Thanks to Libby Smith for the great quotes…I borrowed them from her facebook page. Thanks dear!

Looking forward to returning home, sleeping in my own bed, and sharing the adventure with all of you!

This week we will observe SPRING BREAK. Many of you have family plans, travel plans, and vacations set up – Enjoy every moment of them! Blessings on you all this spring.

The photo above is Daniel Woods, professional climber at The Red. He is far more skilled and far crazier than me.  :)

I will be traveling to eastern Kentucky to the Red River Gorge for several days of Rock Climbing and camping. I promise to come with full health intact and plenty of stories. I will post some pictures when I return!

I will be traveling Saturday March 19 through Thursday, March 24. Please accept my delays in responding to calls or emails as I will not be able to plug my laptop or cell phone in to the earth upon which I’ll be sleeping. I’ll be back to work Friday, March 25!

Namaste,

Cheri
