A great student of mine had some exciting thoughts and reflections after a recent session. She has a bit of a reputation for not really liking Yoga – slowing down is difficult for many of us! I think she may be hooked after this experience together. She found new sensations and alignment in her body and was able to choose a deeply focused flow for her personal practice during our last session. Well done, friend!

“When I came into the studio for today’s session I felt anxious and almost like ‘what’s today’s lesson going to be like? Will it be awkward or will it flow? Will I be able to focus?’ I have not eaten much, haven’t really had an appetite due to my state of mind and the circumstances in my life right now.

As we worked, you found me where I was at, Cheri, and I actually learned a lot from today’s lesson. I felt things in my body I haven’t felt before. I had a more direct focus with how my right leg tracks and moves. Even downward facing dog felt amazing today. As I did that pose I thought, ‘Wow, this is yoga. This feels good!’ I’ve done this pose many times and today it was so different with more of a weight shift into my legs and it felt lighter, I felt more open. That was amazing and it made me realize what it’s supposed to feel like. I feel grounded and my head is free.

In savasana, you put a rolled towel under my neck and it  felt great. Then you gently covered my eyes with a cloth and I felt like I could really rest. Almost go to sleep! Sometimes I feel distracted in savasana.

I would hear your breathing, Cheri, and it brought me back to my breathing and my body. All the other stuff can wait, it will happen in its own time and I can choose to focus on my breath.

I feel my appetite now again and I feel like this was a good way to start my day. Emotionally, I feel more ready to face the challenges in front of me – I have more clear direction.”

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I am glad in one focused hour we could help you experience your body, clear your thoughts and send you into your day with a readiness and appetite for taking care of yourself amidst challenges.

Namaste.
