I’m off for a weekend of snowy adventures in Ashland WI and the surrounding area. I will do my morning practice with (hopefully) winter rays of sun streaming in the windows to wake my spirit. I will cook my meals and eat slowly. I will read, write, ponder. I will even learn to snowshoe and visit new places while trucking around on foot.
I deeply enjoyed my time with all of you last weekend at the retreat…now it’s time for me to unplug for a couple days. Namaste!
Make sure you plan to join us next Saturday, February 5 for a pre-superbowl fitness fiesta…we will head over to Beaver Creek Reserve as a group for an informal outing of hiking, snowshoes, and skis. Call me or email to RSVP and we will set a rendevous point and time, carpooling or caravan with us!

“I do it as a therapy. I do it as something to keep me alive. We all need a little discipline.
Exercise is my discipline.”
Jack LaLanne
With a popular TV fitness show throughout the 1950′s to 1970′s, Jack LaLanne helped the entire fitness industry get started. Before then, gyms and personal trainers barely existed. He encouraged people to move more, think about cleaning up the way they ate, and wanted to see families and businesses and each American individual improve their health. We have loads of people like him teaching and inspiring the public to move more and make their body their home. Where else would you live if your body failed you?
As I read some of his quotes today I realized how candid he was…very conversational in his approach, putting questions out there for you to ponder or posing a challenge with direct call to action. His quote above is one of my favorites and I thank him for his lifetime commitment to living well.
Jack LaLanne you will be missed by many. Thank you for getting this industry off the ground and for seeing through your own personal dedication to walk the walk.
Who inspires you today to be alive with discipline, health, joy, vitality? Go!

SO GOOD. I think I have found a new favorite soup with this recipe I whipped together. I had a notecard from Just Local for a Spicy Curry Squash soup…decided to use the chorizo and spinach in the fridge for this idea instead. YUM.
Garlic, red onion, and olive oil to begin.
Peeled all the roasted butternut (2 whole squash), mashed it and added it to the pot.
Added a whole container of organic chicken broth (could be veggie) and salt, pepper, red chili flakes.
Three large (or a bit more) handfuls of spinach, cleaned and chopped a bit, and tossed into the pot.
Chorizo made into tiny little balls, cooked without any added fat then drained before adding into the soup.
The final touch – about a third of a pint of half and half. This is optional, but for a whole batch of soup – it’s worth it.
This will feed me and Jason for DAYS and yes, a good portion of it will make it into the freezer for a week where I would rather not cook. Soups are so hearty, flavorful, and potentially healthy if you load up the savories, aromatics, veggies, squashes, root veggies this time of year. Enjoy!
Squash soup with a kick. BLISS. Namaste,
Cheri
I am reading a new book, Glad No Matter What by Sark. I love it! Parts of her writing will be used this weekend as inspiration for our retreat…enjoy the photos! Our theme for the wild adventure weekend is Gladness and Gratitude!
